THEORY OF CHANGE

Unite Women. Break Hierarchy. Improve Lives.

OUR VISION

All people enjoy their fundamental human rights, free from deep hierarchies that plague society.

UNITE WOMEN

SHGs provide unifying platforms through which a diverse group of women can demonstrate strong bonds of mutual concern.

BREAK HIERARCHY

Our Model enables women to disrupt deep hierarchies, which we believe are the source of poverty, inequality and exclusion.

IMPROVE LIVES

Beyond impacts on health, livelihoods and incomes, women experience increased levels of self-confidence and sustained agency.

Our belief in individual’s innate abilities, the strength of community institutions and the skills acquired from programme strategies offers hope and leads to mutual support and collective action to tackle issues identified by the communities themselves.

STRATEGIES FOR CHANGE

INSTITUTION BUILDING

Strategically placed institutions (in the form of Self-Help Groups, Village Organizations and Block Organizations) are owned and managed by the women themselves to ensure that effective support systems and safety nets are at the grassroots level.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Women are connected to the world through the enabling process of capacity building and focused training so that they may acquire the resources, skills and sustained life changes necessary to come out of poverty and inspire others to do the same.

FIELD PROGRAMMES

Our field programmes are designed to be efficient, sustainable and measurable. They address multi-dimensional aspects of poverty and deliver a range of services from health to education, while also breaking hierarchies by using gender as a unifying force.

UNITE

Unite women in SHGs to collectively break barriers and plan for their futures.

STRENGTHEN

Strengthen SHG members through capacity building and focused training.

LINK

Link SHGs and their families to existing structures of service delivery, facilities and resources.

BUILD

Build social capitalby harnessing new information and creating community support networks.

GROW

Grow the SHG network by encouraging innovation and embracing volunteerism.
