RGMVP is founded on the following set of core beliefs that guide its socio-economic development model and day-to-day operations:

• The poor have a strong desire and innate ability to come out of poverty
• The poor have a strong spirit of volunteerism. Psychological, social, economic and political obstacles suppress this capability
• The poor can come out of poverty on a large scale through their own institutions
• Social mobilisation is needed to unleash the innate abilities. However, it is not automatic and needs to be induced
